Located in the very center of Cornelius, North Carolina, Bags of Hope isn’t just a nonprofit organization; it is a lifeline for children who face not having enough to eat. In its workspace at 10308 Bailey Rd, Unit 413, Cornelius, NC 28031, Bags of Hope crafts hope, not just for the moment but for the future.
Established with a commanding ideal to eradicate weekend starvation among children in need, Bags of Hope provisions food pouches to primary and secondary school students who might otherwise lack sufficient nourishment during the times when they cannot access school-provided meals. Every pouch holds several servings of packed meals, which can be prepared without a stove and in only a few minutes, and assorted protein snacks, all of which come in kid-friendly varieties. Also packed with the meals and snacks are uplifting notes, written by volunteers.
Bags of Hope is a community effort. Its occupations are filled by volunteers, donors, and local supporters who mix together to cover the bases necessary for the charity to operate on a week-by-week basis. Imagine a community with a shared belief that no child should ever go hungry. Now imagine that community coming together every week to actually make that happen.
The organization’s reach extends far and wide. An effort that started small has matured into a network of volunteers and community leaders who grasp the direct link between good nutrition and not just good grades but also psychological health and the recovery of stable upward paths in life. They know that when you feed a child’s belly, you also feed their appetite for learning. And when a child has food, they’re more likely to have a peace of mind that helps them grow and transform from a fragile state into one of budding self-confidence that leads them down a path of increasingly difficult challenges.
Bags of Hope works on the principle that “it takes a village.” They are always eager to welcome new volunteers, donors, and advocates to help them reach and uplift more young lives. The businesses and individuals we know can sponsor a child, donate food, donate funds, or organize local drives to do this vital work.
